The title looks very conventional to a horror film with the thin font and the blended effect in the background. The sizing of the title is clearly bigger than all the other text and is easily identified as the title, not an actor’s name. It is the font and style of the title that stands out. The title ‘Donnie Darko’ doesn’t say much about the film or give away any narrative clues, the audience just suspect its a name of a character (which it is). This is shown through the colder blue colour in which all the images are, this gives connotes a sense of mystery in the poster and in the film. All of the characters have very serious or curious facial expressions which reflect the tone and genre of the film this darker tone is displayed throughout the poster. Each character has a similar sizing and it doesn’t clearly identify the main character or give any sort of order of importance, apart from suggesting that the rabbit character has some connection or control over them. At first glance the image makes up the rabbit/human that plays a part in the film, however, the image is made up of the characters and locations or images of the film. The main image takes ups most of the space on the poster and is the most prominent feature overall. The layout for this poster as a whole is very similar to the ‘Looper’ film poster and follows the same conventions. For my second film poster analysis I have chosen the film ‘ Donnie Darko‘ a psychological drama.
